About Us

Dontraveous is the Founder of Atlanta Difference Makers and an undergraduate student at Georgia State University. He is an Atlanta native and pursuing a Bachelor’s of Science in Middle Level Education. What encouraged his passion in education is a few influential and passionate educators who worked hard to ensure that he realized his limitless potential.  He has not always been the ideal student, as he struggled with proper ways of communication & expression. Due to his own ignorance, and poor decision making, he was expelled and transferred to an alternative school, The Henry Louis "Hank" Aaron New Beginnings Academy, formerly known as "Forrest Hills Academy". Forrest Hills Academy is an alternative school in Atlanta Public Schools serving students who are school policy violators seeking a second opportunity. This has been the most pivotal moment in his life, as he was constantly reminded daily of his capability and intelligence which promoted his growth.  While in attendance he had the opportunity to witness students, products of Atlanta’s toughest neighborhoods and he also had the opportunity to connect with them personally. In doing so, he realized that the majority of the students who were also attending, did not have the support system as he did, people who were continuously rooting for them to succeed.  He concluded, he did not want to become a product of his environment but rather make a difference in the outcomes of students in the environment in which he was raised.

What he believes in education is in order to help a student become successful regardless of their race or nationality, is to ensure equity, by providing students with the resources they need in order to be successful, and also by building positive relationships with students, so that they feel encouraged to reach for their highest potential
